Professional Membership
I am a fully qualified, registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am listed on the BACP/ PSA register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, you can read more about this here.
Experience
I have been working with individual counselling/ therapy clients for 15 years. 13 years of this has been in private practice. I also have significant experience, gained over many years alongside my private practice, of working within varied organisations as a counsellor/therapist.
I'm a senior clinician, who has supported many clients over the years, to manage and overcome the full spectrum of mental health problems and life challenges. I aim to help people notice real, measurable improvements in how they feel and cope. I'm very experienced in managing risk and crisis. I provide trauma-informed, assessment-led support to help you develop greater emotional regulation and healthier relationships.
I'm very experienced in both short and long-term therapy (ranging from 1 session all the way through to many years) However in my private practice I primarily work long-term, where I help clients who are experiencing long-term difficulties to achieve lasting change. (I am able to offer a short course of sessions initially, to help you see if working with me long-term feels like the right fit).
I am now also training to be a relationship (couples) therapist, alongside my individual work.
Although my couples training is ongoing, I bring significant experience to couples work, having spent 15 years working with individual therapy clients, including those attending with relationship issues. I have completed many trainings in topics relevant to couples.
I also have experience in planning and facilitating psycho-educational groups, workshops and trainings.
- BACP Accreditation (2017).
- Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling from CPPD, London (2009-2013).
- BA (Honours) Degree, English Language and Linguistics, University of York (2007).
I have since undertaken further training and courses on various topics relevant to my therapy work. I have specialist experience and training in complex trauma, personality disorder, parts-based work (internal family systems) and relationship/couples work.
I am able to use different approaches in my clinical work, depending on your needs.
